VoIP for Android – International Calls
Mobile VoIP for Android phones works seamlessly – place international calls as usual using your phone’s Dialer or Contacts. Voxofon intercepts your calls abroad and re-routes them through its VoIP network. The calls are either placed via a local access number, or sent through WiFi or 3G/4G if you use the latest Voxofon Add-on – VoIP for Android. This allows you to make pure VoIP calls directly from your Android phone.
How to Use Voxofon Call Abroad or VoIP Add-on on your Android?
- Enter an international phone number in the phone’s Dialer (include the country code) or select it from the phone’s Contacts
- Press Call
- A Voxofon window will pop up, listing your calling options (Call via Local Number, WiFi or 3G call) and the low international calling rates
- Click ‘Call via Local Number’ to route the call through the nearest access number, or ‘WiFi or 3G’ to make a pure VoIP call on your Android phone
IMPORTANT: Make sure you see the Voxofon window before the call, otherwise the call may go through your operator! Voxofon’s VoIP VoIP add on must be installed for pure VoIP calls.
Are Calls via Local Number and VoIP Calls Priced Differently?
When you call overseas via local access number, you will pay your operator for the local call and the app will only use 1-2 KB of Internet data for call setup. When you make a VoIP call, you do not use your local minutes as then entire call will go through the Internet. By providing VoIP for Android phones, Voxofon makes it convenient and simple to avoid spending your local minutes. You can even remove your SIM card and still make calls through WiFi or VoIP on Android.
Your Voxofon account will be charged for the international part of call (from 1 cent/min). The exact Voxofon calling rates are always displayed prior to your international call, both for the WiFi call option and for the call via local number.
When you sign up for a new account, you will receive a credit of $0.50 to experience the simplicity and low calling rates of Voxofon Calling Abroad.
