Voxofon for BlackBerry® smartphonesVoxofon Call AbroadA real cost saver for anybody calling or traveling abroad. Works seamlessly with your phone - place calls as usual using phone's Dialer or Contacts and Voxofon will re-route the international calls. IMPORTANT: If you have downloaded Voxofon application from BlackBerry® App World™ your call rates will be different. Get StartedChoose your download option:
After the application is installed it will ask you to grant permissions for accessing the Internet and reading your phone number. Voxofon application works with BlackBerry firmware version 4.2.1 and above. You can check the firmware version by going to "Options" and "About" on your BlackBerry. How To Make Calls? After you install the application, just enter an international number in your phone's Dialer. For example, +4722334455 and press Call. Voxofon window will pop up. It will list your calling options (Call via Local Number, Setup Callback etc) and display the exact rate for each of those options. If you are not logged in, it will display the number of free test minutes you have for each type of the call. IMPORTANT: Make sure you see Voxofon window before the call, otherwise the call may go through your operator! What Does It Cost? You will pay your operator for a call to a local access number or for receiving a call. The app will use 1-2 KB of internet data for call setup. If you have unlimited data and/or free minutes you will not pay anything extra. Your Voxofon account will be charged for the international part of call (from 1.3 c/min). The exact Voxofon rates for the call will be displayed before your call is placed. After you complete a free sign up you are given $0.50 credit to try out the services. RoamingIf you use your mobile in another country to make or receive calls you will pay your operator very expensive roaming charges. One way to avoid this is to buy a local SIM card in the country where you are and use Voxofon app with that SIM. The other way is to use 'Callback Other' function in Voxofon app to connect a local number in the country where you are to the destination. In this case you will pay your mobile operator only for the roaming data usage during call setup: a few KB of data. Roaming - Internet AccessWhen you allow your phone to access the mobile internet while roaming in another country, you should disable checking of emails and the apps that regularly use the mobile internet. They usually consume a lot of data traffic. This is very important - large amounts of data traffic can be extremely expensive when roaming! |
